The Reader works collaboratively with CRILS  - The Centre for Research into Reading, Literature and Society at Liverpool University. Both organisations exist to bring reading into closer relation with health and wellbeing and this practice example is to be read alongside the CRILS submission to the APPG.

Aims and Objectives:

1. To model a volunteer-based project capable of bringing about transformative change for volunteers who were unemployed and/or experiencing mental health problems.

The role of the third sector in delivering social care – Scoping Review

This review was commissioned by the Department of Health’s NIHR School for Social Care Research. Voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations have played an important part in delivering social care services for a considerable time. This role has been changing over time due to the personalisation agenda and greater integration of health and social care services.

Volunteers, interns and the minimum wage

Updated official guidance has been produced on the Business Link website on the payment of the National Minimum Wage for work experience staff and interns. The web pages also cover volunteers and voluntary workers in relation to the minimum wage.
